50 travellers test Covid-19 positive in Qatar on Jan 3

Doha: Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) today recorded 197 new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) and 128 people recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of people recovered in Qatar to 141,808.

Out of the 197 new cases, 147 are community cases and 50 from travellers returning from abroad.

All new cases have been placed in isolation and are receiving necessary health care according to their health status.

Till now 245 people have died due to the virus.

The total number of positive COVID-19 cases recorded in Qatar is 144,437 and there are 2,315 active cases under treatment.

4,067 people were tested for the first time in the last 24 hours (8,251 tests in total) taking the total tests done so far to 1,252,433 tests.

There are 43 cases of hospital admissions in the last 24 hours taking the total number of patients in the hospital to 286.

Four patients were admitted to intensive care in the last 24 hours, and so 32 people continue to receive medical attention in ICU.

While the restrictions of COVID-19 are gradually being lifted in Qatar, it is important for everyone to play their role in controlling the virus by following precautionary measures:

- Adherence to physical distancing

- Avoid close contact with others, crowded places, and confined closed spaces where other people congregate

- Wearing a face mask

- Washing hands regularly
