2,200 applications received for winter camping

The organising committee of winter camping at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) received 2,200 camping applications during the second week after starting the

registration process for 2017-2018.

This accounts for 88% of the 2,418 available number of camping sites this year. Local Arabic daily Arrayah reported yesterday that most of the applications were received through the MME website, followed by the other offices of MME designated for the purpose at different places.

Besides, the grace period to pay the security deposit and taking the camp plate number was extended for five days.

A source at MME told the daily that registration for camping would go on until December 31. There are still some camping sites available at Sealine and Khor Al Udeid areas while nine other coastal locations were all booked within hours of starting the process. In case of failing to complete the payment before the designated period, the booking would be

cancelled.

The source stressed that applicants should abide by the terms and conditions of the camping process and should not start camping before the official start of the process, failing which their camps would be removed.

In addition, campers should not use gliders, hot balloons, or heavy equipment to excavate the soil or pave it at the

camping sites.

This season will see introduction of more services at both the coastal and land sites. These include eateries, cafeterias, cafes, and various auto services shops.
