22 returning travellers tested positive as 213 Covid-19 cases reported on Oct 8

Doha: Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) today recorded 213 new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) and 219 people recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of people recovered in Qatar to 124,327. 

Out of the 213 new cases, 191 are community cases and 22 from travelers returning from abroad.

All new cases have been placed in isolation and are receiving necessary health care according to their health status.

The total number of positive COVID-19 cases recorded in Qatar is 127,394 and there are 2849 active cases under treatment. So far, 218 people died from the coronavirus in Qatar.

Ministry conducted 4994 tests in the last 24 hours taking the total tests done so far to 815,021 tests. There are 39 cases of hospital admissions in the last 24 hours taking the total patients in the hospital to 361.

Five patients were admitted to intensive care due to health complications resulting from infection with the virus, bringing the total number of cases receiving medical care in intensive care currently to 56.

While the restrictions of COVID-19 are gradually being lifted in Qatar, it is important for everyone to play their role in controlling the virus by following precautionary measures:
- Adherence to physical distancing.
- Avoid close contact with others, crowded places, and confined closed spaces where other people congregate.
- Wearing a face mask.
- Washing hands regularly
