21,000 baby hamour fishes released

The Ministry of Municipality's Fisheries Department released around 21,000 baby hamour fishes weighing around 52gm each into the sea as part of a farmed fish release programme.

Ibrahim Salman al-Mohannadi, head of the Aquatic Research Center at Ras Matbakh under the Fisheries Department, said the programme has been going on for more than a year. The aim is to increase fish stock. So far, a total of 580,000 baby hamour and 701,000 baby seabream fish have been released into the sea as part of the initiative.
