The General Directorate of Traffic has seized nearly 2,000 vehicles that have violated the Traffic Law during a campaign launched to enhance safety and reduce the number of deaths and injuries caused by road traffic accidents during Ramadan.

It aims to enhance road safety by controlling serious violations and deterring drivers who commit such violations.

Among the violations targeted were sound offences, tampering and organising races. He pointed out that the campaign resulted in the seizure of nearly 2,000 vehicles, and the violators have been referred to the competent authorities to face legal action.

The campaign is based on the deployment and intensification of military and civil patrols and the establishment of checkpoints in all regions of the country, in addition to working on rapid intervention to follow up on traffic reports received from residential areas, and impose traffic discipline in the event that any serious traffic violations are reported. He called on everyone to communicate with the competent authorities to immediately report those violations.

He also called on all motorists to cooperate with traffic patrols and officers, abide by the law, follow all traffic safety requirements, and observe the rights of others to preserve lives and property.

The General Directorate of Traffic organises such traffic campaign annually during the holy month of Ramadan to ensure the safety of all road users. (QNA)
