11 Italian firms showcase expertise, innovation at AgriteQ

Eleven Italian companies are participating in the eighth edition of the International Agricultural Exhibition (AgriteQ) and the second International Environmental Exhibition (EnviroteQ), which will run until March 27 at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre.

The entire concept of the Italian embassy's booth at AgriteQ and EnviroteQ is to provide companies in Italy with a physical presence at the event, allowing them to network and hold virtual B2B meetings with their Qatari counterparts, Italian ambassador Alessandro Prunas told Gulf Times on the sidelines of the event Tuesday.

The 11 participating Italian companies are Agribio, Faber-Com, Fri-El Group, Idromeccanica Luchini, Kiasma, Maire Technimont, NextChem, Ponics, Watercube, Leonardo and Saipem, Prunas added.

Of these, Leonardo and Saipem have offices in Doha.

The ambassador explained that QR codes are available for any company in Qatar that is interested in knowing the expertise and services of the 11 participating Italian firms. The concept, he stressed, also demonstrates how technology could be maximised without any impact on the environment.

"This also sends an environmentally sound message because the approach saves money, energy and other resources. Aside from the QR codes, the embassy is here to assist interested parties that want to connect virtually through Zoom or other digital platforms," he said.

Prunas said the Italian companies specialise in the agriculture and green economy sectors, ranging from hydroponics technology, plastic recycling, green energy and technologies for green transition, among others.

Emphasising the country's commitment to protecting the environment, Prunas noted that Italy has recently created the Ministry of Ecological Transition, with physicist Roberto Cingolani at the helm.

Another feature of the Italian booth at AgriteQ and EnviroteQ is an area dedicated to showcasing Italy's objectives for this year's Italian G20 presidency, the ambassador pointed out.

"Environment, green transition and sustainability are among the central pillars of our presidency at the G20; and we will also co-host with the UK the COP26 or the 2021 UN Climate Change Conference.

"We also held a series of talks, and just recently one of the forums focused on how to get more of the youth involved in environmental protection, especially green transition. This is a showcase of our broader political commitment towards the green alternative to safeguard our planet," added Prunas.
