Ministry closes restaurant for violating precautionary measures

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry closed a restaurant for a period of 15 days for violation of the circular issued by the Ministry as precautionary measures to counter the outbreak of coronavirus.

Ministry said in tweet that the action was taken against Sukar Pasha restaurant in Katara as they violated precautionary measures issued by the ministry earlier to curb the spread of Covid-19.

The ministry added that the restaurant violated the circular prohibiting serving food in all restaurants and cafes in the country and not allowing dine-in customers as precautionary measures to counter the spread of the Corona virus and preserve public health.

Video published on social media showed a gathering of people inside the restaurant.

Katara also confirmed, in an official statement posted on their Twitter account, that “this was an individual act, which is wrong and against public order”.

Katara said in the statement that it was one of the first institutions to suspend all its activities and close all restaurants inside the cultural village since March 15.
