Ministry calls upon educational, admn cadres to get booster dose

* Third dose available for them in all health centres without prior appointment


The Ministry of Education and Higher Education has urged the educational and administrative cadres in all public and private schools to take the third booster dose of Covid-19 vaccine for the safety and health of all and to move forward in the fight against the virus, noting that the booster dose of Pfizer and Moderna are available in all health centres without prior appointment.

 Distance learning session must

              end by 12:30pm


The live broadcast of distance learning sessions by schools should conclude at 12.30pm on class days from January 9 to 27, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) tweeted Thursday.

The MoEHE had announced Wednesday that distance learning will continue until January 27 given the current conditions of the Covid-19 pandemic and the rise in daily cases.

The decision was taken after consultation and co-ordination with the Ministry of Public Health and other stakeholders concerned.

The ministry stressed the importance of providing a safe environment in all state schools in co-ordination with the Primary Health Care Corporation in order to curb the spread of the pandemic given the rise in the number of cases.

The ministry sent circulars to all teaching and administrative staff working in all public and private schools and parties to the educational process, stressing the importance of applying all precautionary measures during school hours, including wearing masks, social distancing and personal hygiene, and the necessity of co-ordination and co-operation with the concerned authorities inside and outside the ministry in the event of infection.

The ministry also stressed the need to adhere to the working hours announced for the administrative and teaching staff in the school building in accordance with the instructions of the education sector.

It underlined the need to follow all precautionary measures to ensure the safety of everyone, stressing the application of distance learning system for all students at all educational levels in public and private schools until January 27.

The ministry stressed the importance of implementing the attendance and absence policy, through monitoring it daily, notifying parents of the importance of students attending live lessons, and documenting it on the NSIS system. The attendance must be submitted periodically to the Schools Affairs Department, and the parents must be notified of the importance of students attending the live lessons.

Meanwhile, the ministry noted that the books will be handed in the school building starting next week.
