Qatar Fuel (Woqod), in collaboration with Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) and Oryx GTL, organised a blood donation campaign for its employees at its headquarters in Woqod Tower yesterday.
The initiative was held as part of Woqod’s “social responsibility to promote the health and well-being of the community and to spread the spirit of initiative among individuals and institutions”, the company said in a press statement.
On the occasion, Woqod chief executive officer Saad Rashid al-Muhannadi said: “The blood donation campaign, in co-operation with HMC, comes in the context of our strong commitment to the community and to help those in need of blood, and to contribute to drawing a healthy smile on their faces.
“On this special occasion, I would like to express my gratitude to HMC, which provides our community with the highest standards of medical service in Qatar, for allowing us to perform a part of our duty towards society and our beloved country.
“I would also like to thank our employees, who were very keen to participate in this initiative, emanating from their belief in their contribution to the community, towards the strengthening of our social fabric and consolidating the honourable values that we have inherited, generation after generation.”
The event was attended by a large number of Woqod employees, as the company’s staff from various departments gathered to participate in this humanitarian cause, the statement noted.
The volunteers underwent blood pressure and health screening tests to ensure their health status and capacity as donors, thereby raising their awareness about the importance of the initiative.
