Winners of Doha Youth Innovation Award, photography category announced

The Ministry of Culture and Sports has announced the winners in the photography category of the Doha Youth Innovation Award, which was open to all young people from the Islamic world.

The award was launched during the summer in co-operation with the Islamic Co-operation Youth Forum, and held in collaboration with the Visual Arts Centre, Doha Film Institute and  Youth Hobbies Centre under the organisation of the Qatar Cultural and Heritage Events Centre.

The winners of the photography competition, ‘Islamic Values’ segment, are Sultan Ahmed Niloy from Bangladesh in first place, followed by Gehad Mohamed Edris from Yemen, Nada Mohamed Salama Wadi from Jordan, Kazi Mohamed Jahirul Islam from Bangladesh; Rabi Adamu Sufi from Nigeria and Mohamed Ali Sheida from

Afghanistan.

In the ‘Youth and Success Stories’ segment, the first-place winner is Mohamed Nazmul Hasan Khan from Bangladesh, followed by Youssef Loulidi from Morocco, Ali Hamed Khalaf al-Ghafri from Oman and Mukti Ali Asyadzili from Indonesia.

Ahmad Asif Sami from Bangladesh won the first place in the ‘Our Islamic Heritage’ segment, followed by Mohamed Rezaiguia from Algeria, Burcu Emektar from Turkey and Anas Mohamed

al-Dheeb from Oman.

Abdulaziz al-Kubaisi, head of the photography section at Youth Hobbies Centre, said in a statement that the judging process involved several stages, including administrative screening, which was done by the Ministry of Culture and Sports. The second step was technical screening, carried out by the centre, while the final stage lasted for a week and

included more than one step .

The jury consisted of members belonging to the Youth Hobbies Centre and others with a long experience in this regard as well as winners of local and international awards, al-Kubaisi pointed out, adding that the centre drafted the technical conditions for the photography competition and presented it to the ministry.

Al-Kubaisi expressed hope that the competition would be annually adopted by the Ministry of Culture and Sports in order to highlight local and Arab talents and develop them.

The award, part of Doha QIC Youth Capital 2019, aims at developing the spirit of innovation and creativity among young people in various scientific, literary and artistic fields, the statement adds.
