UK adds Qatar, Oman to travel red list

Doha: Britain has added Qatar to its travel red list and has banned all flights from Qatar from Friday early morning.

“Ethiopia, Oman, Somalia and Qatar to be added to England’s red list. Portugal (including Madeira and the Azores) and Mauritius to be removed from England’s red list,” England’s Department for Transport said.

“From 4am on 19 March, direct flights from Qatar to England are prohibited. Visitors who have been in or transited through Qatar in the previous 10 days cannot enter England,” British Embassy in Qatar tweeted. 

British and Irish nationals and third country nationals with residence rights in the UK arriving in England from Qatar will be required to quarantine in a hotel. 

Ethiopia, Oman and Somalia were also added to England's travel red list yesterday while Portugal was removed from the list and flight ban lifted.

 

 

The current red list countries include Angola, Argentina, Bolivia, Botswana, Brazil, Burundi, Cape Verde, Chile, Colombia, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ecuador, Eswatini, Ethiopia (will be added to the list 4am Friday 19 March), French Guiana, Guyana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius (will be removed from the list 4am Friday 19 March), Mozambique, Namibia, Oman (will be added to the list 4am Friday 19 March), Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Portugal (including Madeira and the Azores) (will be removed from the list 4am Friday 19 March), Qatar (will be added to the list 4am Friday 19 March), Rwanda, Seychelles, Somalia (will be added to the list 4am Friday 19 March), South Africa, Suriname, Tanzania, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Uruguay, Venezuela, Zambia, Zimbabwe.
