Renewed Excitement: Triathlon Event Returns to Old Doha Port

Doha, Qatar: In a lively return to the sports scene, the Qatar Triathlon Federation revived the Old Doha Port Triathlon, signifying the commencement of the 2023/2024 triathlon season after a season-long break.

Held at the Grand Terminal Area on Friday, the event witnessed a vibrant participation of over 180 athletes, engaging in the challenging Sprint Distance Triathlon, while more than 50 young talents took part in the Youth Aquathlon.

A diverse array of participants, including local and expatriate athletes, along with contestants from neighboring nations like Kuwait and Bahrain, contributed to the event’s international character.

The technical demands of the four-lap draft-legal road bike segment and the three laps of the running track heightened the excitement. The scenic backdrop of West Bay added a picturesque finish line and ceremony setting.

The event's success, alongside the previous Aquathlon co-organized with the QTRI club in October, solidified the Old Doha Port’s reputation as a prime venue for upcoming local, regional, and potentially international multisport events.

Rayyan Water, Al Ghariya Cycling, and La Mesa Restaurant generously supported the event.
