Qatar Railways Company (Qatar Rail), joining hands with Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC)’s Blood Donor Centre, organised an internal blood drive recently.
The initiative saw a good turnout of company employees, contractors and senior executives, according to a statement from Qatar Rail.
The blood donation drive falls under the framework of Qatar Rail’s community engagement programme, which extends support at all levels to the health, environment and sports sectors, among others.

Commenting on the blood donation initiative and the response it has received, Qatar Rail deputy CEO Hamad al-Bishri said: “This blood drive, among our many other initiatives, is an extension and proof of our unwavering commitment to the Qatari society and its members. It is gratifying to see such support from our staff.
“Beyond helping HMC in increasing reserves at blood banks, Qatar Rail has a firm belief that these humanitarian initiatives also help raise awareness about the repercussions of blood loss and haemorrhages – even more so with blood banks struggling with supplies.”

On the occasion, al-Bishri called on all members within the Qatar community to donate and contribute to HMC, which “has become a central pillar for Qatar’s healthcare system in line with Qatar National Vision 2030, adopting the most advanced technologies in the modern medical field”.
Qatar Rail, which is responsible for the design, construction, commissioning, operation and maintenance of the entire rail network and systems, had organised a blood donation drive in 2013, supporting HMC’s mission.
