Doha, Qatar: The General Directorate of Drug Enforcement at the Ministry of Interior (MoI) arrested an Asian man over possession of about 4 kilograms of shabu.
In a statement on Twitter, MoI said that the suspect received the shabu via parcel, in the form of curtains that were soaked with the narcotic substance.
After extracting the illegal substance from the curtains’ fabric, the accused placed them into containers inside his residence.
The individual, when confronted, pointed out the methods and tools he had used in the extraction process.
The suspect and the contraband were both referred to the Public Prosecution for necessary legal measures.
Earlier today, another smuggling attempt was foiled by Customs at the Hamad International Airport when during an inspection, a passenger’s bag was found containing a total of 10.466 kg of marijuana.
Shabu/Shabo is a local term for illegal methamphetamine drug which is prevalent in some parts of Asia. Methamphetamine (meth) is a very addictive synthetic stimulant that can cause considerable health adversities that could lead to death.
