Labour ministry closes 24 recruitment offices

The Ministry of Labour has closed 24 offices for recruiting workers from abroad, due to non-compliance with the terms of contracts with employers and violating its decisions regulating recruitment offices.

The ministry said it is continuing to carry out inspection campaigns on recruitment agencies to monitor their commitment to implementing the Labour Law and related decisions, in order to preserve the rights of employers.

The ministry explained that the inspection teams, during their tours, make sure that the new models of employment contracts for domestic workers are used in accordance with the terms of the decision to extend the warranty, in addition to making sure that recruitment prices are adhered to, according to the decision to set the maximum prices for the recruitment of domestic workers.

According to the closure decision, a closed office may not engage in labour recruitment activity or conclude contracts with employers.

It called on all citizens and residents to report any abuses or violations by the recruitment offices of domestic workers regarding the implementation of the decision to extend the guarantee or the decision to limit prices.

In this regard, the Ministry of Labour said that it will firmly confront anyone who fails to implement the obligations stipulated in the law, regulations and instructions, and will intensify its inspection campaigns on recruitment offices and will take legal measures against anyone who violates laws and decisions. The ministry has allocated direct means of communication to receive complaints from the public regarding recruitment offices at its hotline: 40288101 and e-mail [email protected]
