Inspection of food facilities

Al Khor and Al Thakhira Municipality’s Health Section conducted 189 inspection campaigns, in addition to 562 related inspection tours on the food outlets and facilities in July to ensure their compliance with the health regulations. The inspection in this period resulted in issuing of 20 violation reports, according to law no 8 for 1990, on the regulation of human food control, and one food outlet was shut. Meanwhile, the inspectors at the section examined the fish supplied to the daily auction at the fish market and supervised all the other related businesses. Around 35 tonnes of different types of fish is supplied daily to the market. The inspectors checked the health and safety of around 694,600 tonnes of fish in July and ordered the destruction of around 2,927kg, for being unfit for human consumption. In addition, the inspectors conduct regular visits to many food production projects and manufacturers to check the safety of the products throughout the various stages of the production. Samples are taken for tests at the central labs to ensure compliance with the standard regulations.
