HEC Paris in Qatar, WCM-Q host session on healthcare

Doha, Qatar: HEC Paris in Qatar and Weill Cornell-Medicine Qatar (WCM-Q), both partner universities of Qatar Foundation, hosted a panel discussion on ‘Leading Change in Healthcare: Strategies for effective healthcare management in an ever-changing policy landscape’, which explored the latest trends and innovations in healthcare management and policy, and provided attendees with key insights for succeeding in this rapidly changing industry.

The panel brought together healthcare industry leaders, representing a range of disciplines from surgical consultants, to dementia-care, academics, and disease control researchers.

Panelists included Prof. Dimitrios A Andritsos, HEC Paris Associate Professor of Information Systems and Operations Management; Dr. Charbel Abi Khalil, Associate Professor of Genetic Medicine/Medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar; Ali Ustun, McKinsey’s Pharmaceuticals & Medical Devices Practice in Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa; Amr Metwally, Assistant Executive Director Itqan Clinical Simulation and Innovation Centre; Prof. Dr. Peter Horn, Executive Director for Clinical and Service Development Office of the Chief Medical Officer Hamad Medical Corporation; and Prof. Mahmood Adil, Advisor to H E Minister of Public Health in Qatar.

“The healthcare sector is being disrupted across the entire delivery landscape and demands new strategies to address increasing patient expectations, the emergence of personalised healthcare and stricter regulatory standards,” explained Dr. Pablo Martin de Holan, Dean, HEC Paris in Qatar.

“Through our collaboration with Weill Cornell Medicine, we are committed to ensuring that Qatar’s healthcare sector upholds its reputation for excellence and effectively fulfills the ambitious goals set forth in the Qatar National Vision 2030.” Last year, HEC Paris in Qatar and WCM-Q initiated a collaborative effort by launching an Executive Certificate in Healthcare Management and Policy. Building upon this success, the second edition of the programme is scheduled to commence in November of this year.

The primary objective of this programme is to enhance systems-level management expertise and expedite positive patient outcomes in Qatar and the broader region. The programme consists of two one-week modules; one in New York, led by Weill Cornell, and one in Doha, led by HEC Paris. This collaboration clearly demonstrates the value that cooperation between partner universities brings to the community, which forms a core element of the Qatar Foundation multiversity strategy.
