Food safety violations found in Al Wakra inspection drive

Al Wakra Municipality’s Health Control Section carried out 921 field inspection tours on various food outlets within its jurisdiction during January, resulting in issuance of 52 violation reports according to Law No. 8 for 1990 on the regulation of human food control.

Two of these violations were referred to the security departments concerned. The veterinarians at the section supervised the slaughtering of 23,432 heads of livestock at Al Wakra Automated Slaughterhouse and 658 full carcasses were destroyed, in addition to a considerable quantity of meat for being unfit for human consumption. 

A total of 666 tonnes of fish were examined and 25kg destroyed for being unfit for human consumption. In addition, the director of the municipality issued seven administrative decisions to shut different food outlets for violating the law.
