A transit traveller at Hamad International Airport (HIA) was caught for trying to smuggle 84 gold piece weighing about six kilograms.
The traveller was initially caught with some pieces of gold and he explained to the customs that it he was taking it to another country as transit. After inspecting the piece of gold was registered as transit and was allowed to move on. An officer found suspected behaviour and was asked to check thoroughly.


After the search a bag full of gold was found from his belly, it was wrapped and concealed around his legs. The pieces weighed around 6 kg valuing around QR 600, 000.
The gold was seized and he was handed over to the security department for further legal procedures.
