Camping season extended until May 20

The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC) has decided to extend the camping season until May 20 instead of April 4, as was previously scheduled.

(image) Saleh Hassan al-Kuwari, director of the Natural Reserves Department at the MoECC, confirmed in statements to local Arabic daily Arrayah that the camping season will continue until after Eid al-Fitr. This has been done with the aim of providing an opportunity for citizens to enjoy the

wilderness for a longer period.

Camping areas are distributed throughout the country, including Ghashamiya, Al Naqean, Mukaynis, Sealine, Zekreet, Al Zubarah, Al Udaid, Abu Samra, Rawdat Rashid, Al Khor and Al Thakhira.

Registration for the camping season witnessed the amendment of requirements and documents required to submit a winter camping application. For instance, the age of the permit applicant should not be less than 30 years, while the non-refundable land or marine permit fees were not amended.

The fees for marine areas and reserves were fixed at QR10,000, while the charges for wild areas are QR3,000 plus insurance.
