Doha: Saturday, October 16 will be the first day of Al Wasmi, the 52-day period that heralds the rainy season.
Qatar Meteorology stated this on its social media adding that this period is characterised by the movement of clouds from the West to East, with the rain at its beginning.
The period is called Al Wasmi due to its compatibility with the rains that sees the growth of various plants such as truffle (plant) and Geranium (Al-Yarwa).
Qatar Meteorology also added that the temperatures drop during this period with the weather being warm during day and mild at night and tends to get cold at time, especially when the dry Northwesterly wind blows.
