Action against 16 motorists for hiding number plates

DOHA: The General Directorate of Traffic referred 16 people to Public Prosecution for hiding their vehicle’s number plate. Legal actions were also taken against 45 vehicles for other violations.

The 16 violations of hiding number plate were committed between February 13 to March 13 in Sealine Area. From the pictures provided by the authorities, it looked like many motorists were hiding the number plates using facemasks usually used for precautionary measures against the Covid-19 pandemic.

The penalty for hiding a vehicle’s number plate is up to three days in prison in addition to court referral.

The General Directorate of Traffic warned against committing any traffic violations and said that they will not tolerate violations specially in Sealine area. It also stressed the need to adhere to laws and guidelines to maintain traffic safety.
