90,000 baby hamour fish released into Qatari waters

The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME)'s Fisheries Department, in co-operation with the Protection and Wildlife Department, has released 90,000 baby hamour fish weighing 2gm each into the Qatari waters at selected locations. The fish were produced at the Aquatic Research Centre in Ras Matbakh. This marks a continuation of the programme to enrich the country's fish stock, which involves the local production of fish of high economic value and releasing the baby fish into local waters to enhance the stock of such types of fish and achieve food security, the MME has said.
