DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Ensure the prompt processing of Purchase Requisitions issued by the Production Support Department and continually monitor their progress.
• Provide accurate information to all relevant NDSQ departments, relating to the status of materials required for the building of each yard number. This includes NDSQ local purchases, Stock, Damen Gorinchem work orders and any overseas deliveries from Suppliers, such as Rolls-Royce / DTS / etc.
• Develop close links with relevant contacts at Damen, Gorinchem ensuring that there is a constant flow of information regarding deliveries (via container check report), quality, availability etc.
• Liaise closely with Project Management and Ship Coordination to highlight, discuss and find solutions to incomplete and late deliveries.
• To review the content list for material availability and update accordingly. This review is undertaken prior to the issue of work packages by Production Support to the Production Department.
• Issue and manage Purchase Requisitions for the ordering of materials, which have been received damaged or have been damaged in house.
• Assist with the appointment of sub-contractors for the supply of non-material related services i.e. Industrial Cleaning / Carpentry works / NDT investigations / Scaffolding/ Painting and generate the required PR’s.
• Work in union with the Expeditor and with his assistance continually monitor status of all orders to ensure materials are delivered according to the project schedules.
• Liaise closely with the Warehouse Manager to maintain an accurate record of all received materials and equipment and if necessary assist in the identification of product if labeling is unclear. Further coordination is required to ensure that materials are delivered to production as and when required.
• Acquire a thorough understanding of the relevant SAP systems and their benefits to the role of the MC. Continue with SAP training.
• Continually develop and improve knowledge of materials and equipment relating to the shipbuilding industry.
• Offer general assistance to the P&L Manager as and when required.

 
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
• Minimum of 5 years working in the marine industry, preferably ship building.
• Educated to Diploma/Degree level preferably in Material Management, Engineering or Logistics
• Excellent oral and written English communication skills are essential
• Computer savvy & knowledge of Excel
• Organization and coordination Skills
• Decision making and prioritization skills
• Knowledge of SAP is an advantage
