MoI to set up medical training centre soon

The Ministry of Interior (MoI) in collaboration with the Hamad International Training Center (HITC) of the Hamad Medical Corp will set up a medical training and education centre soon.

An agreement in this regard was signed between MoI’s Medical Services Department director Brig Khalifa Abdullah al-Noimi, and HITC director Dr Khalid Abdulnoor Saifeldeen, yesterday.

It is expected that the agreement will pave way for immediate training for the MoI medical staff and the training is likely to start in ‘six weeks.’

According to Brig al-Noimi, the agreement aims to build up qualified medical professionals who can provide quality medical services to the customers of the MoI Medical Department.

Most of the services will be related to advanced life support programme.

Speaking to Gulf Times on the sidelines of the ceremony, Dr Saifeldeen said after providing training in phases, the proposed centre will be developed into an independent facility.

“So using our expertise, our structure and our internationally accredited standards, we will add more and more courses. We are trying to make the centre very similar to HITC in all its standards,” he explained.

Dr Saifeldeen observed that in the immediate future, the MoI centre will be like a branch or venue of HITC.

“Gradually we will hand it over to MoI,” he said.

The HITC official pointed out that MoI have physicians, nurses, and ambulance staff among others.

“The programme is almost developed and we need to schedule people and in six weeks or so, we will start the training,” he added.
