Companies failing to comply with the summer timing for outdoor work will face closure of up to one month, the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs has warned.

The summer working hours will take effect on June 15 and will be in force until August 31, as per the ministerial decree No. 16 of 2007.

All firms employing people for outdoor work are required to give a break from 11.30am to 3pm. Morning working hours should not exceed five and 11.30am, according to an announcement issued by the ministry yesterday.

The evening/afternoon schedule should not start before 3pm.

The summer working hours should be displayed prominently at the work place, according to the decree.

“The timetable should be in a visible place where all workers can see and labour inspectors can easily notice during their inspection visits,” said the ministry.

Any facility violating the decision will be closed for a period not exceeding one month, it added.

The ministry has also provided a hotline (44241101) to lodge complaints about erring facilities.
