Chances of rain again from Thursday evening

There are chances of rain and thunder once again in the country from this evening, and strong winds are also expected Thursday, the Qatar Met department has said.

The weather office has also issued a warning for thundershowers, windy conditions and high seas in offshore areas.

On Tuesday, the Met department had said the country would experience another spell of unstable weather and rain – heavy and thundery at times - from this evening until Monday evening.

The detailed forecast for Thursday says it will be hazy in the early hours of the day. Cloudy conditions will also prevail and there is a chance of scattered rain, which may be thundery in some places by the evening. Slight to blowing dust is also likely.

Similar conditions have been forecast for offshore areas as well, where rain and thunder are expected by Thursday night.

The wind speed may go up to 25 knots inshore and 35 knots offshore during thundershowers, while the sea level may rise to 12ft.

A minimum temperature of 17C is expected in Wakrah, Mesaieed and Al Khor on Thursday, while in Doha it will be 20C. The maximum, on the other hand, will range from 24C to 28C.

Wednesday, a minimum temperature of 14C was recorded in Al Khor, and 19C in Doha (airport area). The maximum was between 24C and 30C.

In view of the expected conditions, the Met department has advised people to be cautious and follow latest updates and warnings issued by the department.
