56km of roads linking Hamad Port with other areas opened

About 56km of roads linking Hamad Port to different parts of Doha and the Industrial Area have been opened so far this year, according to the Public Works Authority (Ashghal).

Last month, there was a partial opening of a 14km section of the Orbital Highway from Hamad Port, connecting it with Doha via G-Ring Road and the Industrial Area.

Four lanes were opened in the direction from Hamad Port towards the Industrial Area and works are going on to complete the opposite lanes, which will open shortly.

It is hoped that Hamad Port Road will provide road users with a direct, shorter route as an alternative to the Al Kharara/Al Wakrah roads. It is expected to shorten travel time by more than 15%.

The new road extends from Mesaieed Road, passing through G-Ring Road, up to the East Industrial Street through the recently opened underpass at the East Street 33 Interchange (formerly Al Watan Roundabout).

It will also establish a free-flowing connection between Hamad Port, Hamad International Airport and Salwa Road.

In April, nearly 37km of the New Orbital Highway and Truck Route was opened.

The opened areas included a 29km linking road from the intersection of the Orbital Highway with F-Ring Road, up to the intersection of the Orbital Highway with Dukhan Highway through Salwa Road.

The opened section includes 8km of Mesaieed Road, extending from the south of Al Wakrah to Hamad Port.

It also serves a wide range of economic and agricultural activities as the Logistics Village and a large number of farms are located along the route.

The new 8km section of Mesaieed Road will enhance traffic flow and facilitate access for those travelling from Doha and Al Wakrah to Hamad Port and the southern areas.

In February, a 5km road that links Hamad Port with the Orbital Highway was opened. The road will enhance truck movement between the port and many areas, including Doha.
